He was born in Trinidad and received his education at Mapps College in Barbados. Barry studied Fine Art and Graphics at Sir John Cass College, and the London College of Printing. He also went to Italy where he apprenticed to the Italian painter Rodolfo de Sanctis.
Barry retured to Trinidad in the early eighties, having lived in Rome, Spain and India.
His first exhibition was at the National Museum in Port of Spain in 1982 and has since shown at Art Creators, Alliance Francaise, Roomor and Studio 44 London.
He uses a Graphic Impressionist style bridging on semi-abstraction in a brilliance of colour; a melting pot of true Caribbeaniana.
In 1989 Pierre showed his textiles and fashion design at the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission in London, he also supplied Liberty’s of London with specially commissioned and exclusive designs. He has done hand painted furniture and is known for his hand painted and printed t-shirts.
However he returned to the canvas some years to achieve greater freedom of expression and appreciation of Fauvism using rich bold tropical colors with darker areas contrasting with gold, copper, silver etc.
